Watercolour Paint and metallic gold ink on paper – Unframed
Signed on the front.
Golden Falena was inspired by the beauty of the Elephant Hawk Moth and the beautiful Bearded Iris.
I have used watercolour and white and gold ink to create this artwork. The gold ink has be used to create the ornate swirls and line work. The ink is metallic and shines in the light.
Have you ever wondered why moths are often fatally attracted to light? Well moths are positively phototactic. That means they use the moon as a guiding light to navigate. Our bright lights confuse the moths into thinking a light bulb, is the moon.
Within my art practice, I am influenced by themes of gender, sexuality, nature, and the female experience. My artworks combine elements of drawing and painting and I take my time to explore the textures and layers of paint on the substrate.
Golden Falena (falena means moth in Italian) has been painted using the best artist materials to ensure the archival quality of the work. She has a 5mm border around her for ease of framing. Measurements given are for the artwork size within the border.
